    “Death In Prison”

Today I saw the death of a man

He fought back the attacker and made a stand

But the man who killed him wouldn’t be denied

The victim went down and slowly died…

Blood leaked from his body across the floor

Only his attacker knew what he died for

Through it all we stood there and stared

Our faces blank as if no one cared…

We cleared a path and the killer walked away

No one saw nothing is what we would say

Nurses brought a stretcher 3 hours later and the body disappeared

Towels and mops cleaned the blood like it was never there…

Death in prison is only a break in routine

Forgotten tomorrow, and back to the same old thing,

A cell was empty, but not for long,

Who will die next and be sent back home...???
